2017 Next Step Breakfast
Our 2017 Next Step Breakfast held March 16 at the National Press Club raised funds to empower our neighbors who are homeless, unemployed, or just plain stuck to set goals and take measurable next steps to change.
We had 325 guests brought together by our wonderful emcee, Petula Dvorak. After a prayer of gratitude and hope by Bishop Mariann Budde, we heard participant Teresa Batts' story of returning to DC and becoming homeless, and who is now on her way to long-term full-time employment! Volunteer Tom Bauder's touching honesty and compassion which is motivated and challenged by his faith brought a hush to the room. Jack Barker's rousing commitment to hope and success moved us into the future. Throughout the morning we heard the joyful music of Bob Wallin, Peate Pegues, and Irvin Peterson.
Gracious thanks to our primary sponsors Buckley Sandler LLP and the Collins Investment Group, as well as the Mortgage Bankers Association.
