Change Agents recognized at SMGW Annual Meeting

On January 24, Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington held its Annual Partners Meeting: a time to recognize and reflect on our accomplishments during the past year; solidify our leadership team; and provide an overview of new programs. More importantly, this was the first Annual Partners Meeting since our merger with STRIVE in August 2016!

By far the highlight of the evening was the opportunity to engage our partners directly with the Next Step Program! Two of our Intern Caseworkers, Kathleen Roark and Tiara Lamberth, spoke about their experiences in providing direct service as Intern Caseworkers; and our Senior Case Workers and employment trainers discussed some of the challenges and opportunities they experience in helping participants meet their goals.

We presented two Change Agent Awards to Daniel Dixon (our SE Lead Caseworker) (pictured right, top) and Dana Hutson (SMGW Board Member) (pictured right, bottom). These awards are given annually to full or part time staff members, including volunteers, who have rendered extraordinary service above and beyond their daily duties.

We also commissioned our new Board and Partner Council; and celebrated the extraordinary number of new partner representatives and board members (fifteen in all!). We also recognized four partner representatives and board members (namely Ken Harrison (Calvary DC), Al Head (St. Patrick's DC), Cecilia Smith (St. John's Norwood) and Cynthia Sutton (Savior Silver Spring) upon their retirement, and thank them for for their many years of service.

We gave thanks to Saint Andrew's Episcopal School for their extraordinary generosity in hosting us.
