Summer at Samaritan Ministry
Many of our volunteers take some well deserved time off in the summer. We are fortunate to have summer interns and others that join us to help out. Some are high school students completing community service hours, and others have jobs that wind down during the summer allowing them the opportunity to volunteer. We appreciate all of our summer volunteers!
Staff/Volunteer Appreciation Day
A good time was had by all attending the Staff Appreciation Day on June 26. At Samaritan Ministry, we consider that volunteers are members of our staff, and we took this time to honor those on our staff who give their time to Samaritan Ministry. After a morning at the Newseum, we enjoyed a picnic on the lawn of the National Cathedral. After a group photo, great food and a game of Bocce ball, David Downes distributed small tokens of thank you to the staff. We hope everyone will be able to join us at the next appreciation day next summer. It’s a lot of fun and the chance to get to know other volunteers.
Next Step Experience
Make plans now to invite friends to a Next Step Experience this fall. At this complimentary one-hour event attendees see where program participants meet with caseworkers to work on goals, apply for jobs, and obtain clothing for interviews and more. We also present Samaritan Ministry's vision for the future and learn about homelessness in Washington, DC. Make your reservations by contacting Diane Aten at 202-722-2280 ext. 304 or by email at daten@samaritanministry.org
