Partner Parish Reps - Raising Money
WHAT PARTNER PARISH REPRESENTATIVES CAN DO TO RAISE MONEY FOR SAMARITAN MINISTRY (in addition to helping secure your Parish’s contribution)
- Donate personally to Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington (SMGW).
- Find out if your employer will match your gift, and fill out the appropriate paperwork.
- Plan a Samaritan Ministry Sunday at your parish with a special collection.
- Have a concert or other fundraiser at your parish with the proceeds to go to Samaritan Ministry.
- Have a meaningful eating experience or “spaghetti dinner” at your Parish with earnings to go to Samaritan Ministry.
- Have a “house party” fundraiser.
- Host your own raffle for Samaritan Ministry.
- Ask everyone you know to designate SMGW in the United Way/Combined Federal Campaign.
- Find out if any parishioners or others whom you know have contacts at foundation boards and communicate any foundation grant opportunities you may be aware of to the Fundraising Committee at Samaritan Ministry.
- Organize a mini-walk at your parish as part of the Help the Homeless Walkathon, or bring a group to the main walk; ask your employer to become a corporate sponsor for the Walkathon.
- Recruit volunteers from your parish. They are vital to the organization and they frequently become donors.
- Encourage parishioners to attend a Next Step Experience at one of our three offices to learn more about Samaritan Ministry’s work.
- Suggest names of people you know who should be added to the Samaritan Ministry mailing list.
- Keep Samaritan Ministry visible in your parish…show the (original) Samaritan Ministry video at a parish gathering; invite staff members and volunteers to appear at Adult Forums, Outreach Committee meetings, etc.; plan an “on-the-road” Next Step Experience at your parish; insure that your parish newsletter and bulletin runs current information on Samaritan Ministry activities; keep SMGW’s list of parish newsletter contacts up-to-date; invite your youth group to do a service project; bring a group to an Urban Experience; invite volunteers to attend Christmas parties and bring presents or make crafts at the party.
- Suggest names of groups who might have representatives of Samaritan Ministry come speak to them about the program.
- Invite your friends or coworkers, as well as fellow parishioners, to attend Samaritan Ministry fundraising events.
- Add Samaritan Ministry as a beneficiary of your will.
